Refund Orders

You can refund orders via the Zen cart admin.
Find the order in the Order List Page and change the Status to (Pending or Refunded, depending on your store setup)

You can Delete orders from your Zen Cart but this is not recommended!.

UK Law State you Have to keep sale record for 5-6 year depending on your company type .

“The basic requirement is that records for a company must be preserved for six years from the end of the period for which the company is required to deliver a tax return. For individuals and partners in business the requirement is to retain records for five years after the fixed filing date.”

 

If you delete the Order record from your site, you will have no online record of the order and the order will be removed from your customers account details, if the customer needs to access the order details (for guarantee or refund purposes they will have to rely on the email copies they receive).

 

 

Zen will NOT refund your customer their payment*, this needs to be done via the Payment Gateway used to take the payment.

You will then need to alter the order in Zen cart to the status of reflect the refund.

Details of this will be available from your Payment Gateway provider.

 

 

* Paypal does provide a more complete solution for refunds.
If an order is paid for via Paypal and then requires a refund, you are able to login to you Paypal account and select the refuned option, Paypal will the send a notification to your website (via IPN Instant Payment Notification), this will change the status of the order to refunded or pending (depending on site configuration).
